UGM, Pecs sign deal
YOGYAKARTA: Gadjah Mada University (UGM) rector Ichlasul Amal
and his counterpart of the Hungarian Pecs' University Jozsef Toth
signed on Saturday a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for
academic and research cooperation.
"The MOU includes the exchange of students and lecturers and
research and scientific meetings between the two universities,"
Amal said after the signing ceremony.
"Starting next semester, we will hold a student exchange
program," he said, adding that the program would be held
annually.
"We'll start with two students. The number may increase from
time to time depending on further talks," he added.
The participants will be enrolled as non-degree students at
the host university with a length of stay of between six and 12
months," said Amal.
He added that the students would be exempted from tuition and
other academic fees during the exchange program.
"The deal will be effective as of the 2000/2001 academic year,
starting next August. The agreement will be valid for a period of
five years, and an evaluation of its implementation will be made
one year before it comes to an end," he said. (23/emf)
