The Jardine-Gadjah Mada Postgraduate Scholarship Programme for the 2026/2027 academic year has been opened for new Master’s and Doctoral students at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). The quota is for 10 Master’s and 10 Doctoral students entering the odd semester.

The Jardine Foundation previously focused on providing undergraduate scholarships to the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge. However, a policy change has seen the foundation shift its scholarship distribution to Asia. In Indonesia, UGM and the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) have been appointed as partner universities to receive the scholarships.

“This programme continues to support students amidst increasingly constrained education budgets,” explained UGM Director of Student Affairs, Hempri Suyatna, in a written statement. “Scholarships like the Jardine Foundation not only provide easier access to education through funding but also strengthen the skills and soft skills of recipient students.”

Besides UGM and ITB, the Jardine Foundation has also expanded its education investment scope to other prestigious campuses in Asia, such as the University of Hong Kong and Fulbright University Vietnam. Hempri noted that UGM’s collaboration with the Jardine Foundation has been ongoing since 2022, during which dozens of UGM students have benefited from the programme. “This programme has been running since 2022 and there have been dozens of recipients. Currently, it is not only for undergraduate level but has expanded to postgraduate, thus broadening the scholarship’s reach,” he said.
