UGM Lecturer Claims Name Was Used Without Consent by Little Aresha Foundation Chairwoman
Police have revealed the latest update regarding the alleged involvement of an active lecturer from the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and a judge in the suspected child abuse case at the Little Aresha daycare in Yogyakarta. Both the lecturer and the judge are listed as members of the Little Aresha foundation’s management.
The head of the criminal investigation unit at the Yogyakarta City Police, Kompol Riski Adrian, stated that both the lecturer and the judge are related to the foundation’s chairwoman, Diyah Kusumastuti, also known as DK (51). DK has now been named a suspect.
“Indeed, they have a family relationship with the foundation chairwoman, basically they are close relatives, there is a connection,” Adrian said following a reconstruction at Little Aresha in Umbulharjo, Yogyakarta City, on Tuesday (9/6/2026).
Adrian said his team had also summoned the lecturer, Dr Cahyaningrum Dewojati, whose name is recorded as an advisor to the foundation. Based on her statement, the lecturer claimed she had never submitted her photograph.
“So, regarding the lecturer, we summoned her two weeks ago. Her statement indicated that at the time of the foundation’s establishment, the deed of establishment, her name was requested,” Adrian explained.
“We then asked, ‘So where did the foundation chairwoman get the photographs from?’ It turns out the foundation chairwoman opened the website of the university where the lecturer works and took it from there. According to the lecturer’s account, she never gave that photograph to the foundation chairwoman,” he elaborated.
Furthermore, police have also examined the lecturer’s bank statements. The results showed no transactions indicating any flow of funds from the daycare to the lecturer.
“We also obtained the bank statements yesterday, and indeed there is nothing pointing towards the person concerned. So far, we have not found anything,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the judge named Rafid Ihsan Lubis, who is listed as the chair of the foundation’s supervisory board, is scheduled to undergo questioning this week.
“We plan to examine the judge on the 12th of June. We issued a summons previously, but the person concerned requested a postponement to the 12th due to other commitments,” Adrian concluded.
