UGM Freshman Nurma's Journey: From Late-Night Study Sessions to a Full Scholarship

Anisa Nurmalitasari, an 18-year-old from Yogyakarta, has been awarded a full scholarship through the Unggul Bersubsidi scheme to study Nutrition at the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). She secured her place via the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP). To achieve this, Nurma maintained a rigorous study routine, often starting at home and continuing at the UGM library until late at night, as the environment at home was not always conducive to studying. Her father, Agus Nurhadi, who runs a small business selling peanut snacks, frequently drove her to the campus library. On the day of the announcement, Nurma was too nervous to check the results herself, leaving it to her family to confirm her acceptance, which was met with tears of joy. Nurma stated that her interest in nutrition stemmed from a desire to combine her passion for health with the fundamental human need for food. Her mother, Sri Damaryati, and her older sibling provided constant motivation and support throughout her studies. Nurma advised other students not to give up on their circumstances, emphasising that strong intentions and hard work will pave the way to achieving their dreams.
