UGM Comments on Lecturer Serving as Advisor to Little Aresha Daycare
Gadjah Mada University (UGM) has issued a statement regarding its lecturer, Cahyaningrum Dewojati, serving as an advisor to Yayasan Daycare Little Aresha. UGM stated that Cahyaningrum is involved in the management of the daycare foundation in a personal capacity.
“Regarding the information stating that the advisor to Yayasan Daycare Little Aresha Yogyakarta is one of the lecturers at our higher education institution, we can confirm that the individual is indeed an active lecturer involved in the management of the said daycare in a personal capacity,” said UGM Spokesperson I Made Andi Arsana, as reported by detikJogja on Monday (27/4/2026).
UGM expressed concern over the alleged acts of violence occurring in the environment of Daycare Little Aresha. The university stated that it has no institutional relationship with Yayasan Daycare Little Aresha Yogyakarta.
“We also uphold the principles of objectivity and commitment to child protection. In line with that, we are closely monitoring the developments of this case and are prepared to take follow-up actions within UGM’s capacity based on applicable provisions,” he said.
“It should be understood that she is acting in a personal capacity. The matter is still in process. UGM is following the process properly,” he added.
Previously, police named 13 individuals as suspects in the case of alleged inhumane treatment at a daycare in Yogyakarta City. The determination of suspects was made after a case review held at Polresta Jogja.
