Denpasar (ANTARA) - Kodam IX/Udayana held an interfaith prayer gathering to seek safety and recovery following the earthquake that struck several areas in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

The event, led directly by Regional Military Commander (Pangdam) IX/Udayana Major General TNI Piek Budyakto, took place at the Makorem 163/Wira Satya field on Wednesday and was attended by all military personnel and civil servants (PNS) across the Denpasar garrison.

“We gather not merely to carry out religious activities, but to unite our hearts, minds, and prayers, as a form of care and solidarity towards our brothers and sisters who are facing the disaster of a natural calamity in the NTT region,” said Pangdam Piek Budyakto.

According to him, differences in religion, belief, and background are not barriers to uniting in humanity. The disaster experienced by the people of NTT is a concern for the entire Indonesian nation.

The Pangdam also invited regional governments, all components of the nation, religious leaders, and the public to continue strengthening synergy in post-disaster handling and recovery.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Bali Province, Mahrusun, in a national address also invited all participants to pray for TNI and Polri soldiers, medical personnel, and volunteers serving in the affected areas.

Subsequently, the joint prayer was led in turn by Islamic, Catholic, Protestant, and Hindu religious leaders. The series of interfaith prayers became a symbol of unity and togetherness in providing moral and spiritual support to the people of NTT who are facing the disaster.
