Ubud to host writers' festival

Ubud will host a special festival bringing together distinguished
writers, artists, scholars and filmmakers from around the world
to share experiences, expertise and dialog to strengthen the
relationship between "East" and West."

Held from Oct. 11 through Oct. 17, the festival will attract
famous writers such as Amitav Ghosh from India, Dewi Anggareni,
Goenawan Mohamad, Pramudya Ananta Toer, Wendy Lawyone, David
Leser, George Negus, Michael Vatikiotis and many more talented
individuals.

The eight-day festival, pioneered by Janet De Neefe, will
present bilingual readings, workshops, art exhibitions, book and
magazine launches, film screenings, music, art and theater
performances including traditional theater and puppet
performances.

The Ubud Writers' and Readers' Festival is a celebration of
the richness and diversity of art and literary culture from both
East and West.
