UBSI’s Yogyakarta Campus Opens Information Systems Undergraduate Programme with Ministry Approval
YOGYAKARTA – Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI) is expanding access to higher education in the Special Region of Yogyakarta by opening an undergraduate Information Systems programme at its off-main-campus site in Sleman Regency. The programme has received official approval from Indonesia’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek).
The approval is set out in Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Decree No. 928/B/O/2026, issued on 24 August 2026. Under the decree, the government has authorised the Bina Sarana Informatika Foundation to run the undergraduate Information Systems programme in Sleman Regency, as part of UBSI’s Yogyakarta campus operations.
The decree also states that the programme has met the minimum accreditation requirements. The approval marks an important step in UBSI’s expansion of higher education in information technology, while giving prospective students in Yogyakarta and surrounding areas another study option.
UBSI Rector Prof. Dr Ir Mochamad Wahyudi welcomed the decree. He said the new undergraduate programme was part of the university’s effort to provide higher education that responds to technological developments and the needs of the labour market.
“The issuance of this ministerial decree is a clear expression of the government’s trust in UBSI. We have designed the Information Systems programme at the Yogyakarta campus to meet the strong demand among the public, industry and businesses in the Special Region of Yogyakarta and surrounding areas for competent and innovative digital talent,” Prof. Wahyudi said on Friday, 9 October 2026.
Preparing learning that meets industry needs
The development of digital technology is driving demand for people who understand information systems and can connect the use of technology with organisational and business needs. These skills are important in supporting digital transformation across various sectors.
By opening the undergraduate Information Systems programme, UBSI aims to offer prospective students a route to develop knowledge and skills in the field.
Wahyudi stressed that the new programme must be supported by academic and operational readiness to ensure teaching meets government standards.
“In accordance with the ministry’s mandate, we are fully committed to complying with the National Standards for Higher Education. We have prepared a curriculum relevant to the latest technological developments, supported by adequate campus facilities and professional teaching staff, to produce graduates ready to compete in the era of digital transformation,” he added.
This commitment underpins UBSI’s efforts to develop education that goes beyond theoretical knowledge and remains relevant to technological change and business needs.
With approval to run the programme, UBSI’s Yogyakarta campus now offers prospective students an additional undergraduate study option in Information Systems.
The programme is expected to broaden access to higher education and support the development of human resources in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. For UBSI, it is also part of an ongoing effort to provide education that adapts to technological developments and the needs of the public and industry.
