UBSI’s Solo Campus Opens Undergraduate Informatics Programme, Offering Residents a New Technology Degree Option
SOLO — Growing interest in information technology is creating opportunities for people to prepare for the needs of the digital industry. To broaden access, Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI) has opened an undergraduate Informatics programme at its Solo campus in Central Java, after obtaining approval from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology.
The approval is set out in Decree of the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia No. 928/B/O/2026, issued in Jakarta on 24 August 2026. Under the decree, the Bina Sarana Informatika Foundation is authorised to provide an undergraduate Informatics programme outside the university’s main campus.
The document also states that the programme has met the minimum accreditation requirements. Its launch in Solo forms part of UBSI’s effort to expand access to higher education in technology, while giving prospective students in Solo and surrounding areas another option for studying Informatics.
UBSI Rector Prof Dr Ir Mochamad Wahyudi said the programme’s opening was intended to bring technology-focused higher education closer to the public. He said he hoped it would help prepare digital talent capable of adapting to developments in industry.
“The launch of the undergraduate Informatics programme in Surakarta is a concrete step by UBSI to expand access to higher education focused on information technology. We want to ensure that people in Solo and surrounding areas have an appropriate place to develop into innovative digital talent, ready to compete in industry,” Prof Wahyudi said on Friday (9 October).
He said that expanding access to education also needed to be accompanied by a commitment to maintaining teaching quality. UBSI said it had therefore prepared academic support for the programme at its Solo campus.
“We are fully committed to continually meeting national higher education standards in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations. Learning facilities, an industry-aligned curriculum and qualified teaching staff have all been carefully prepared at the Solo campus,” he added.
The Informatics programme is one option for prospective students wishing to study computing and technology development. The knowledge and skills it provides are expected to help graduates prepare for the changing demands of the digital industry.
With the launch of the undergraduate Informatics programme in Solo, UBSI is widening higher education options for people in Central Java, particularly prospective students in Solo and nearby areas. The move is expected to support the development of skilled human resources who can contribute to technological progress in Indonesia.
