Students from the Hotel Management Study Program at Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI) Yogyakarta campus conducted a bakery practical session in the campus laboratory on Monday, 25 May 2026.

The activity aims to enhance students’ competencies in hospitality and culinary industries. This practical session is a compulsory course requirement for graduation from UBSI Yogyakarta’s Hotel Management program.

During the session, students practiced making various bakery products, such as sweet bread and toast bread, in line with industry standards. The laboratory was designed to resemble a professional kitchen to familiarise students with real-world hospitality and culinary work environments. They were trained in basic to advanced techniques for bakery product preparation.

Head of the Hotel Management Study Program, Emmita Devi Hari Putri, explained that the bakery practical is crucial in developing students’ skills to be job-ready.

‘Through the Bakery course, students not only understand theory but also develop precision, creativity, and professional work standards required by the hospitality industry,’ she told media in Yogyakarta on Monday, 1 June 2026.

Students showed enthusiasm throughout the practical process, from ingredient preparation to processing and product presentation. Beyond technical skills, the activity also fostered teamwork, time management, and problem-solving abilities.

Fourth-semester Hotel Management student Lintang Fajar Agustin said the bakery practicum provided new experiences in developing food processing skills.

‘The Bakery course is enjoyable and hones our skills. Having never made bread before, I now better understand the techniques,’ she said.

Through this practical session, UBSI, as a Creative Digital Campus, aims for students to master kitchen operational skills while understanding professional standards in the hospitality industry.
