UBSI Visual Communication Design Students Win Second Place in Infographic Competition with Focus on Farmer Regeneration
JAKARTA — Three students from the Visual Communication Design (DKV) programme at Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI), Slipi campus, won second place in the GANTARI 2026 Infographic Competition. The winners of the competition, organised by UIN Jakarta, were officially announced on Thursday (24 September 2026). Their work highlighted the importance of farmer regeneration in achieving food self-sufficiency in Indonesia.
The three students were Mashudi, Abdullah Faqih Albar and Az-Zahra Rizky Putri Ardanil. They chose the theme “Farmer Regeneration as a Driver of Sustainability and Indonesian Food Self-Sufficiency”. The competition challenged participants to turn complex issues, including the food crisis and the role of young farmers, into concise and engaging visual messages.
For the UBSI DKV students, the competition offered an opportunity to combine rigorous research with visual communication skills. Design elements such as typography, colour combinations, illustrations and layout were key to their success. Their aim was to ensure that a broad audience could clearly understand the central message about the resilience of the food system.
Mashudi, one of the team members, said the competition provided valuable learning beyond the classroom. “The competition not only sharpened our design skills, but also encouraged us to understand farmer regeneration and food sustainability. We learnt how to present fairly complex information in a simpler visual form that is easier to understand,” Mashudi said in a written statement in Jakarta on Thursday (8 October 2026).
The achievement demonstrates that visual communication design can be a powerful medium for raising public awareness of social issues. UBSI’s DKV programme praised the team’s success and said it hoped the achievement would inspire others on campus to pursue creative work.
