UBSI Tasikmalaya Lecturers Boost MSME Competitiveness Through Digitalisation

A community partnership programme (PKM) team from Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI) Tasikmalaya campus has completed a series of activities aimed at boosting the competitiveness of local micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) Rima Craft through digitalisation. The programme, which ran from May to August 2026, was funded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) under the BIMA scheme. Rima Craft produces woven goods from pandan leaves, including bags and household items. The initiative was led by Herlan Sutisna, with fellow lecturers Taufik Wibisono and Ratningsih, and involved students Reyhan Andrea Firdaus and Zamzam Permana Maulana Sidik. Herlan stated that the programme was designed based on the partner’s needs to ensure practical application. The team provided production assets such as sewing machines and compressors, alongside training in financial management, digital marketing, and the use of generative AI. A key innovation was the development of a web-based information system called SIMKURING, which serves as a digital hub for the business profile, product catalogue, and online transactions. Participants also received training in product photography and smart packaging, including the addition of QR codes linking to their digital platforms. Rima Craft owner Rizki Mauludi expressed that the assistance had significantly benefited the business, providing not only equipment but also crucial knowledge in business management and digital promotion. The programme concluded with monitoring and evaluation to ensure the innovations were effectively implemented, aiming to enhance the MSME’s capacity to compete in national and global markets.
