Students from the Informatics Study Programme at Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI) Sukabumi Campus have once again achieved a commendable national-level achievement. They secured third place in the Software Development category at the Indonesian Student Innovation and Creativity Exhibition (PIKMI) 2026, held on Saturday, 23 May at Hall C of the BSI Convention Center in Bekasi.

The Paradisus Animalium team showcased an AI-based innovation in the competition themed ‘Artificial Intelligence for a Sustainable Future’, reinforcing UBSI’s commitment as a Creative Digital Campus in producing top-tier digital talent for a sustainable future.

PIKMI 2026 was organised by PT Kreasi Inovasi Anak Nusantara (KIAN) in collaboration with Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI), Universitas Nusa Mandiri, and Cyber University.

The event provided a platform for students from various universities to showcase their technological creativity and innovation across multiple categories, including short films, independent entrepreneurship, article writing, and AI-based software development.

In the competition, the Paradisus Animalium team, comprising Muhamad Hilal, Nadhif Musyafa Alfarel, and Muhammad Rifaa Siraajuddin Sugandi, demonstrated their ability to create AI-based digital solutions.

Muhamad Hilal revealed that the main challenge during the competition was the application development process heavily reliant on AI.

‘Initially, we thought the competition would be like a standard app development contest with manual coding. However, we discovered that 90% of the app development had to utilise AI, forcing us to adapt and improvise quickly,’ Hilal explained.

During the preliminary round, he explained, participants were given just 40 minutes to complete an AI-based app project. The challenge intensified in the final round when judges provided a case study with only 20 minutes to complete it.

‘The final round was significantly more challenging as we had to think quickly under tight time constraints. Additionally, the judges directly assigned the app theme, requiring us to be fully prepared,’ he added.

Denny Pribadi, Head of the Informatics Study Programme at UBSI Sukabumi Campus, expressed pride in the students’ national competition achievement.

He stated that the Informatics Study Programme continuously encourages students to actively participate in various competitions through mentorship, lecturer guidance, and creative idea development spaces.

‘We are very proud and grateful for this third-place achievement in PIKMI 2026. This success demonstrates that UBSI Sukabumi’s Informatics students can compete at a national level,’ he said in a statement received on Monday, 1 June 2026.

He hopes the Paradisus Animalium team’s success will motivate other students to continue innovating and confidently participate in both academic and non-academic competitions.

Through this achievement, UBSI reaffirms its commitment as a Creative Digital Campus in supporting the development of innovative, adaptable young digital talents capable of using AI technology to address real-world societal challenges.

‘This achievement is hoped to inspire the younger generation to continue contributing to Indonesia’s technological advancement amid rapid digital transformation,’ Denny concluded.
