UBSI Students Prepare for BSI Explore 2026 in Ujung Kulon with Community Empowerment Mission
UBSI (Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika) has reaffirmed its commitment to community service through its flagship BSI Explore 2026 programme. This large-scale community engagement initiative is scheduled to run from 5 to 25 August 2026, focusing on several villages in Sumur District, Pandeglang Regency, Banten. The chosen area has unique characteristics as it lies within the buffer zone of Ujung Kulon National Park. The presence of UBSI students is expected to bring positive impact through a planned mission of education and community empowerment.
Thorough preparations have been made by the BSI Explore organising committee. They conducted a site survey on 18 and 19 June 2026. The primary aim of the survey was to accurately map the needs of the local community, establish close communication and coordination with village governments, and ensure the readiness of infrastructure and logistics at the target locations.
BSI Explore 2026 Committee Chair, Ade Suryadi, stressed the importance of this field survey phase. According to him, BSI Explore is not merely a student visit to a region. The programme is a tangible implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education through community service. “Therefore, we need to understand the field conditions directly so that the programmes we run later are on target and provide sustainable benefits,” Ade stated in a press release on Tuesday (23/6/2026).
During the survey, the team consisting of Ade Suryadi, Mulyadi, Asep Sayfulloh, and Ahmad Hasan Fadilla visited five villages in Sumur District. These villages include Sumberjaya, Tunggaljaya, Ujung Jaya, Cigorondong, and Tamanjaya. Based on coordination results, the village governments and communities enthusiastically welcomed the plans for BSI Explore 2026. The Sumberjaya Village Government has declared its readiness to support participants’ accommodation needs during the programme. The Tunggaljaya and Ujung Jaya Village Governments showed high appreciation and are fully committed to helping the smooth running of the various activities to be held.
A crucial finding came from Cigorondong Village, where the survey team identified the condition of buildings at one educational facility, namely MI Darul Tholibin, which requires serious attention due to damage. “This finding will be an important consideration in drafting the community service agenda to be carried out by UBSI students,” he said. Meanwhile, the priority schools targeted by the programme include SDN Sumberjaya, SDN Tunggaljaya 2, SDN Ujung Jaya 1, SDN Ujung Jaya 2, and MI Darul Tholibin. Tamanjaya Village itself will function as the main coordination centre and basecamp for participants during the activities.
Ade added that BSI Explore 2026 is designed to be a profound learning platform for students. They are expected to hone their social awareness, adaptability in new environments, leadership spirit, and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills. Through BSI Explore, students not only learn in the classroom but also learn to understand social realities in the community. BSI Explore is hoped to provide an experience capable of shaping character, empathy, and a spirit of contribution to the nation. On the other hand, the community also benefits through various educational, social, and empowerment programmes to be implemented. He also expressed appreciation for the warm welcome given by all village officials and the community.
“We are grateful to receive very positive support from the village governments and the community. This extraordinary welcome energises us to prepare BSI Explore 2026 more thoroughly. The hope is that this programme can become a collaborative space between higher education institutions and the community in creating beneficial and sustainable change,” said Ade. UBSI, as a Creative Digital Campus, consistently encourages its students not only to excel academically but also to actively contribute to community service activities. BSI Explore 2026 is tangible proof of how UBSI students can apply their acquired knowledge to deliver a significant positive impact. “BSI Explore 2026 is expected to become one of UBSI’s flagship community service programmes that not only strengthens the role of students as agents of change but also tangibly contributes to improving the quality of education and community empowerment in the Ujung Kulon region,” Ade concluded.
