REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG - Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI), a Digital Creative Campus, conducted a Young Researcher Study Visit to the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Samadikun Bandung on Wednesday, 4th February 2026. This activity was attended by students from the 3rd and 5th semesters of the Information Systems programme and the 1st semester of the Information Technology programme at the UBSI Kramat 98 campus, as part of strengthening experiential learning outside the classroom.

This visit aimed to increase students’ knowledge, competence, and insights related to the development of research and information technology. Through this activity, students were directly introduced to the strategic role of BRIN as a national research institution focused on developing science, technology, and innovation to support industrial progress and national development.

As part of the activities, students participated in material presentation sessions and interactive discussions with BRIN researchers. This knowledge-sharing session provided insights into trends in information technology research, research methods, and the application of research results in the industrial world. Students were also encouraged to understand how the theories learned in lectures can be implemented in professional practice.

One of the speakers from BRIN, Ambar, explained that students have the opportunity to develop their competencies through an internship programme at BRIN.

“UBSI students can participate in the internship programme at BRIN through the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka scheme. This programme provides students with the opportunity to be directly involved in research and technology development activities,” she said, in a press release received on Thursday, 26th February 2026.

In addition, students also visited the Technology Laboratory, which studies the development of semiconductor materials as a source of electrical energy. They also gained an understanding of the application of information technology in industry, especially in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and robotics, including various case studies of their implementation in the manufacturing and digital services sectors.

The Head of the Information Technology programme at UBSI, Hendra Supendar, said that this activity is a strategic step in preparing students to face future industrial challenges.

“Through the visit to BRIN, students are expected to have a clear picture of the needs of the future industry, so that they can prepare themselves with digital skills, analytical abilities, and continuous innovation,” said Hendra.

Through this Young Researcher Study Visit, Hendra hopes that students will be further motivated to develop their academic and professional competencies, and be ready to play a role as superior human resources in the field of information technology that are adaptive to the times.
