UBSI Students Join 2026 West Sumatra Thematic Community Service Programme

Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI) has sent students to participate in the 2026 West Sumatra Thematic Community Service Programme (KKNT) with the theme ‘Bangkik Basamo, Membangun Nagari’. The activity is taking place in Salareh Aia and East Salareh Aia Districts, Agam Regency, West Sumatra, from 31 July to 13 August 2026. The 2026 West Sumatra KKNT programme is organised by the Higher Education Service Institution (LLDIKTI) Region III in collaboration with LLDIKTI Region X. Universitas Budi Luhur and Fort De Kock serve as the focal points for implementing the activity, which involves students from various universities. Before being deployed to the service locations, UBSI students received briefings from Field Supervising Lecturers (DPL). The briefing covered understanding the objectives of the KKNT, community ethics, mapping regional potential, and preparing work programmes. UBSI Field Supervising Lecturer Asep Sayfulloh stated that the briefing was conducted to ensure students are prepared to carry out programmes that meet the community’s needs. ‘We also coordinate closely with local governments, partners, and fellow DPLs so that the programmes implemented by students are truly on target,’ Asep said. According to Asep, the success of the KKNT programme is measured not only by the completion of work programmes but also by the impact felt by the community. Key indicators include the achievement of activity targets, improvement in residents’ knowledge and skills, collaboration among students, and accountability of reports according to LLDIKTI standards. He hopes students will use this activity as a space to develop social awareness and leadership skills. He believes the KKNT is an opportunity for students to understand community conditions directly through service experience. ‘I hope the communities of Nagari Salareh Aia and East Salareh Aia can directly benefit from the presence and innovations brought by UBSI students,’ Asep said. The 2026 West Sumatra KKNT involves more than 30 universities under the coordination of LLDIKTI Region III Jakarta and LLDIKTI Region X West Sumatra. The programme has eight strategic fields: education, health, agriculture, digital marketing, environment, disaster mitigation, MSME empowerment, and Minangkabau local cultural development. The series of activities began with concept preparation on 9 June 2026. Subsequent stages included participant selection, briefings on 15, 17, and 20 July 2026, departure on 31 July 2026, and programme implementation in the field from 1 to 11 August 2026. During the activity, students are required to compile daily reports and produce at least one innovative product from each field undertaken. Participants also create a three- to five-minute documentation video and a final report complete with photo documentation and village data. After the entire series of activities is completed, the committee will conduct a final evaluation to assess programme achievements and measure the impact of student activities during their time in Agam Regency. Participants who fulfil all requirements will receive a national certificate from LLDIKTI. Through involvement in the 2026 West Sumatra KKNT, UBSI as a Creative Digital Campus hopes students can make a real contribution to the community while bringing a spirit of collaboration in developing regional potential. The spirit of ‘Bangkik Basamo, Membangun Nagari’ is part of an effort to encourage the younger generation to continue learning, adapting, and presenting innovations for the community.
