REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - For Anita Tri Ariani Putri, stepping back onto the competition tatami is a testament to a long-held longing. This UBSI university student from the Youth Campus successfully stood on the podium with a bronze in the Senior Kyourugi category at the prestigious Pancasila Cup 2, the Prof. Dr. Reda Manthovani, S.H., LL.M. Memorial Championship, held from 15 to 17 May 2026 at GOR Ciracas, East Jakarta.

Anita is not new to Taekwondo. She has been familiar with martial arts since she was in year 2 of middle school, before briefly stopping training in grade 3 of high school. A long layoff did not extinguish her flame. After becoming a university student, Anita decided to join UBSI’s Taekwondo Unit.

However, returning to the Senior Kyourugi category was no easy feat. This time, her biggest opponent was not only her opponents on the Ciracas gym floor but also time itself. As a student juggling a packed academic schedule with work commitments, finding time for the ideal training regime proved a significant challenge.

“This is a preparation that, in my view, is still not fully matured,” Anita said on Saturday (23/5/2026).

The limitations of her preparation truly tested Anita’s fitness and mental resolve as she faced strong rivals in her class. On the mat, the competition atmosphere was intense, with point after point in a tight chase, leaving a narrow gap to her opponents, who eventually emerged as champions.

Unfortunately, the long休 hiatus began to exact its price in the crucial moments. “At the end of the round I felt quite breathless. I still had the fire inside me to chase, but physically I was exhausted,” Anita recalled.

Even with her breath ragged in the final moments, Anita’s burning spirit helped her secure a bronze medal and a certificate of recognition. For her, this medal is fuel for the next target: a first-place podium at the next tournament. Her sustained success is attributed to the warm atmosphere behind the mat, from coaches to the Chair of UBSI Taekwondo Club who she says is very responsible.

“Their support is very important and valuable for me. In this championship I learned a lot and continued to replenish my energy to give more for myself and also for UBSI, of course,” said Anita.
