UBSI Prepares Students for BSI Explore 2026 Community Service Programme
Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI) is finalising preparations for its BSI Explore 2026 programme through a training session held on Thursday (23/7/2026). This stage is crucial for equipping students before they embark on community service projects in partner villages. The training not only focuses on the technical aspects of programme implementation but also strengthens participants’ physical and mental readiness, communication skills, and ability to deliver educational materials to the community. These provisions are expected to help students adapt to the various conditions they will encounter at their service locations.
Mulyadi, Vice Chairman of BSI Explore 2026, emphasised that the programme’s success depends heavily on the participants’ preparedness to face field dynamics. ‘BSI Explore 2026 is not an ordinary activity. Students must come with energy, and physical and mental readiness because the experience gained in the field will be extraordinary. We hope all participants can make the best contribution to the community,’ he stated in a press release received on Tuesday (28/7/2026).
Ade Suryadi, Chairman of BSI Explore 2026, explained that the programme is continuously being developed to extend its benefits to a wider community. He revealed that the organisers are beginning to open opportunities to expand the implementation of BSI Explore to areas outside Java in the coming years. ‘In the future, we want to expand the reach of BSI Explore to other regions such as Sumatra and Belitung. The hope is that more communities can benefit from UBSI’s student service programme,’ he said.
Ade added that the location for BSI Explore 2026 was chosen based on an evaluation of previous activities. Unlike prior years where students were mostly placed in semi-urban areas, this year participants will gain new experiences by serving in coastal areas. ‘This change of location is part of our evaluation so that students gain more diverse experiences while understanding the characteristics of communities in different environments,’ Ade said.
In addition to receiving technical materials, participants also had the opportunity to learn directly from BSI Explore alumni. Meutya Febi Santoso, a participant from BSI Explore 2025 who served as the master of ceremonies, encouraged all participants to make the most of every training session as the materials are closely linked to the implementation of the programme in the villages. According to her, public speaking skills are among the most frequently used when interacting with the community. ‘The materials provided are truly aligned with field needs. Public speaking is an essential skill because students will be engaging in dialogue, providing education, and leading various activities with the community,’ she said.
The training also featured Zahra, a Management lecturer at UBSI’s Kaliabang and Cibitung campuses, who delivered a micro-teaching session. In this session, participants were trained to convey information in a simple, engaging, and easily understandable manner for people from diverse backgrounds. According to Zahra, communication skills are a key factor determining the success of community service programmes. ‘Students need to be able to simplify their knowledge so it is easily understood by the community. Creative and communicative delivery will make the work programme more effective,’ she said.
Towards the end of the activity, Adila Salsabila Naifa, an alumna of BSI Explore 2025, shared her experiences and motivated the participants. She reminded them that community service in villages is not just about executing work programmes, but also an opportunity to learn directly from community life. ‘Make the most of every moment in the village. Don’t just focus on running the work programme, but also get to know the community’s life and enjoy every process because an experience like this may not come a second time,’ she said.
Through this training, UBSI hopes that all BSI Explore 2026 participants will be able to carry out their service professionally, adaptively, and responsibly. Besides providing tangible benefits to the community, the programme also serves as a means to shape students’ character, fostering social awareness, communication skills, leadership, and a spirit to become agents of change in society. At UBSI, students not only learn in the classroom but also gain real-world experience through various self-development programmes, one of which is BSI Explore, which provides opportunities to serve the community while honing leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
