UBSI Pontianak Students Develop SiMPeDa to Improve Village Public Services

Efforts to drive digital transformation at the village level continue through various technological innovations. One such initiative was realised by students from Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI) Pontianak campus, who developed SiMPeDa (Village Complaint Information System), a web-based application designed to improve the quality of village public services. The innovation was officially handed over to the Pancaroba Village government, Sungai Ambawang District, Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan, on Tuesday (30/6/2026). The handover of the SiMPeDa application was received directly by the Head of Pancaroba Village, Maurilian. The application was created by students from the Information Systems Study Programme at UBSI Pontianak campus, namely Florida Elvitilianti Saputri, Ayu Arisandi, and Agustina Laurensia, under the guidance of lecturers Eri Bayu Pratama and Lady Agustin Fitriana. SiMPeDa serves as a digital solution that makes it easier for the public to submit complaints to the village government quickly, transparently, and with proper documentation. Through the application, residents can send reports complete with complaint categories, urgency levels, supporting photos, and location points. Each report receives a ticket number, allowing the public to independently monitor the progress of their complaint’s handling. The development team leader, Florida Elvitilianti Saputri, stated that SiMPeDa represents the implementation of knowledge gained during their studies and a tangible contribution from students in addressing community needs. ‘We wanted to create an innovation that is truly beneficial. SiMPeDa is not just an academic project but a solution that can help the village government provide faster, more transparent, and efficient public services. We hope this application can be further developed according to the needs of Pancaroba Village,’ she said in a press statement on Wednesday (8/7/2026). The Head of Pancaroba Village, Maurilian, welcomed the application grant. According to him, the use of information technology is an important step in improving the quality of public services. ‘We appreciate the innovation presented by UBSI Pontianak students. SiMPeDa is a step towards modernising village public services. We hope this application can be utilised optimally so that the public has easier access to convey their aspirations and complaints,’ he said. Supervising lecturer Eri Bayu Pratama explained that the development of SiMPeDa is part of project-based learning that encourages students to produce solutions for real problems in the community. ‘Students are not only required to understand theory but also to be able to produce innovations that provide direct benefits. SiMPeDa is an example of how competence in information systems can support village digital transformation while improving the quality of public services,’ he said. Through the development and handover of the SiMPeDa application, UBSI Pontianak students have demonstrated that academic work can have a real impact on society. This collaboration between higher education and the village government is expected to accelerate village digital transformation, strengthen technology-based public services, and inspire students to continue creating innovations beneficial for regional development.
