UBSI Pontianak Students Develop SiMPeDa to Improve Village Public Services
Efforts to drive digital transformation at the village level continue through various technological innovations. One such initiative has been realised by students from Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI) Pontianak Campus, who developed SiMPeDa (Village Complaint Information System), a web-based application designed to improve the quality of village public services. This innovation was officially donated to the Pancaroba Village Government, Sungai Ambawang District, Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan, on Tuesday (30/06/2026).
The handover of the SiMPeDa application was received directly by the Head of Pancaroba Village, Maurilian. The application is the work of Information Systems students from UBSI Pontianak, namely Florida Elvitiliamente Saputri, Ayu Arisandi, and Agustina Laurensia, under the guidance of lecturers Eri Bayu Pratama and Lady Agustin Fitriana.
SiMPeDa serves as a digital solution that makes it easier for the community to submit complaints to the village government quickly, transparently, and with proper documentation. Through this application, residents can send reports complete with complaint categories, urgency levels, supporting photos, and location points. Each report will receive a ticket number, allowing citizens to independently monitor the progress of their complaint handling.
The development team leader, Florida Elvitilianti Saputri, stated that the development of SiMPeDa is an implementation of the knowledge gained during their studies, as well as a tangible contribution from students to address community needs. “We want to present an innovation that is truly beneficial. SiMPeDa is not just an academic project result, but also a solution that can help the village government provide faster, more transparent, and more efficient public services. We hope this application can continue to be developed according to the needs of Pancaroba Village,” she said in a press statement on Wednesday (08/07/2026).
The Head of Pancaroba Village, Maurilian, welcomed the application grant. According to him, the use of information technology is a vital step in improving the quality of services to the community. “We appreciate the innovation presented by the UBSI Pontianak students. SiMPeD is one step towards more modern village public services. We hope this application can be utilised optimally so that the community has easier access to convey aspirations or complaints,” he said.
Supervising lecturer Eri Bayu Pratama explained that the development of SiMPeDa is part of project-based learning that encourages students to produce solutions for real-world problems in the community. “Students are not only required to understand theory but also to be able to produce innovations that provide direct benefits. SiMPeDa serves as an example of how competence in the field of information systems can support village digital transformation while simultaneously improving the quality of public services,” he added.
Through the development and donation of the SiMPeDa application, UBSI Pontianak students have demonstrated that academic work can have a real impact on society. This collaboration between higher education institutions and village governments is expected to accelerate village digital transformation, strengthen technology-based public services, and serve as an inspiration for students to continue creating innovations beneficial to regional development.
