UBSI Lecturers Provide Product Packaging Training to Boost Waste Bank Business Value
A Community Service Team (PkM) from UBSI (Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika), a Digital Creative Campus, led by Sri Wasiyanti, M.Kom, with team member Dr Euis Meinawati, held a training session on product creation and packaging design for members of the Go Green Greeny Waste Bank in Bojong Gede, Bogor, West Java, on Tuesday (16/6/2026). The activity, which took place in Depok, aimed to improve participants’ skills in developing products with economic value while strengthening product appeal through more professional packaging.
The training featured Indah Purwandani, Chair of the Go Green Greeny Bojong Gede Waste Bank, as the speaker. In her presentation, she explained the importance of product and packaging innovation to increase selling value and expand marketing opportunities for waste management products. “A good product needs to be supported by attractive and informative packaging to boost consumer confidence. Packaging is also one of the factors that determines a product’s competitiveness in the market,” Indah said during the training session.
The activity was attended by the Chair and 10 members of the Waste Bank. Participants actively engaged in discussion and practical sessions covering the stages of creating value-added products, selecting packaging materials, developing product identity, and principles of effective packaging design.
In addition to lecturers, UBSI students Muhammad Fikri Al-Ghifari and Ryu Putra Yonata were also involved. Both assisted in mentoring participants and documenting the training.
PkM Team Leader Sri Wasiyanti, M.Kom, said this training is part of efforts to enhance the capacity of waste bank members so they not only focus on waste management but are also able to develop products with higher economic value. “Through good packaging and appropriate marketing strategies, products from waste management are expected to be more accepted by the community and have better competitiveness,” Sri said in a statement quoted on Saturday (20/6/2026).
According to her, developing skills in product processing and packaging design is an important step to support the sustainability of community-based enterprises. Through these abilities, waste bank members can gain greater opportunities to increase the added value of their recycling activities. “Through this training, we hope participants will be more motivated to innovate in creating creative products based on recycling,” she said.
The activity also serves as a form of higher education contribution in supporting community empowerment, sustainable environmental management, and strengthening the local community economy.
