Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI) has further strengthened its internationalisation efforts through the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement with Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). The agreement was signed at the UNIMAS Campus in Sarawak, Malaysia, on Thursday (30/07/2026), representing a commitment from both universities to expand academic collaboration, research, and human resource development at a regional level.

The signing was conducted by the Rector of UBSI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Mochamad Wahyudi, alongside the Vice Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Professor Dr. Haji Ahmad Hata Rasit. The event was also attended by the Co-Founder of the Bina Sarana Informatika (BSI) Foundation, Naba Aji Notoseputro, and the Chairman of the West Java Professors Association, Prof. Dr. Edi Setiadi, as a show of support for strengthening academic collaboration between Indonesia and Malaysia.

Through this partnership, UBSI and UNIMAS have agreed to develop various collaborative programmes, including joint research, capacity building for lecturers and researchers, the implementation of matching grants, academic consultancy, and scientific publications. Additionally, the partnership will encompass various activities aimed at improving the quality of higher education in both institutions.

The Rector of UBSI, Prof. Wahyudi, emphasised that international collaboration is a strategic step to address the increasingly complex challenges of higher education. “We believe that the current challenges in higher education can only be addressed through collaboration,” he stated in a briefing on Saturday (01/08/2026).

He noted that the cooperation with UNIMAS serves as an excellent momentum to introduce impactful joint programmes, ranging from collaborative research and innovation development to international-standard scientific publications and community service activities that provide tangible benefits to both countries. He explained that the internationalisation of a university should not merely be measured by the number of foreign partners, but by the extent to which such cooperation produces real benefits for the academic community and society.

“We hope this cooperation will be immediately realised through various concrete programmes, such as joint research, academic exchanges, international seminars, lecturer capacity building, and community service activities,” he added.

This partnership is intended to go beyond a mere signing ceremony, contributing significantly to the improvement of higher education quality and supporting UBSI’s vision as a globally competitive Creative Digital Campus.

The Vice Chancellor of UNIMAS, Professor Dr. Haji Ahmad Hata Rasit, welcomed the partnership with UBSI. He assessed that cross-border cooperation is a vital step in strengthening the higher education ecosystem in Southeast Asia through knowledge exchange, research collaboration, and innovation development for the benefit of society. This partnership is expected to serve as a gateway for broader academic programmes, including joint research, international publications, and student and lecturer exchanges to address global challenges.
