Collaboration between universities is one way to expand academics’ contribution to society while opening international networks.

This was pursued by Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI) as a Digital Creative Campus through its involvement in an International Community Service (PkM) programme with University Selangor (UNISEL), Malaysia. The PkM was held at Wisata Pereng, Cilongok District, Banyumas Regency, Central Java, on Saturday (15/8/2026).

In the activity, UBSI was represented by three lecturers from different regions: Candra Agustina from UBSI Solo Campus, Ina Maryani from UBSI Purwokerto Campus, and Sopian Aji from UBSI Tegal Campus.

The involvement of the three was part of UBSI’s efforts to strengthen academic collaboration as well as implement the tridharma of higher education through community service activities.

Candra Agustina said that cross-university collaboration provides an opportunity for lecturers to exchange experiences and expand academic networks. International PkM like this is not only oriented towards the implementation of community service activities.

“No less important is the opening of space to exchange experiences and build networks between lecturers and between universities,” said Candra in a statement quoted on Tuesday (25/8/2026).

According to him, the activity also provided an experience for lecturers to see firsthand how academic knowledge can be developed according to community needs.

“For us from the Accounting Information Systems Study Programme at UBSI Solo Campus, this activity is also an opportunity to see firsthand how the field of information technology can be developed to be closer to community needs,” he added.

The presence of Ina Maryani from UBSI Purwokerto Campus and Sopian Aji from UBSI Tegal Campus further strengthened UBSI’s representation in the International PkM activity.

The involvement of lecturers from several UBSI campuses served as a space to bring together various experiences and perspectives in the implementation of community service.

The activity involving universities from Indonesia and UNISEL Malaysia also provided an opportunity for participants to get to know the potential of the community in the Wisata Pereng area. Direct interaction with the community is an important part of understanding local needs and potential that can be developed.

Through community service, universities can contribute through their knowledge and competencies, including in supporting the development of tourism potential, business actors, and community economic activities.

UBSI’s involvement in the International PkM is part of efforts to strengthen the implementation of the tridharma while expanding cooperation networks with foreign universities.

The collaboration also opens opportunities for the development of follow-up activities, whether in the fields of community service, research, publication, or other academic cooperation.
