UBSI Achieves Global Research Collaboration Through Kemendiktisaintek's 2026 Impactful Diaspora Programme
Research no longer runs within the confines of the campus. In an era of rapid technological development, cross-border collaboration has become one of the keys to delivering innovation capable of answering the needs of industry and society.
That spirit has been realised by Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI) through the success of one of its lecturers in passing selection for the Impactful Diaspora Programme (Diaspora Research Mobility Grant) 2026, organised by the Directorate for Research and Development Talent Development, Directorate General of Research and Development, Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek).
Under the programme, Dr Ir Taufik Baidawi, a lecturer and Head of the Software Engineering (RPL) Study Programme at UBSI, is collaborating with Luiz Rizki Ramelan of Xnergy Autonomous Power Technology Singapore.
The research collaboration carries the title ‘Accelerating Embedded Software Engineering and Intelligent Firmware for Agro-industrial Mechatronics Through Global Industry Synergy’.
The research also involves Universitas Al Azhar Indonesia and Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta as collaborating partners in technology-based research development.
The Impactful Diaspora Programme is one of the strategic steps taken by Kemendiktisaintek to bring together researchers at Indonesian higher education institutions with members of the Indonesian diaspora who have experience at global institutions and in global industries.
Through the programme, international collaboration is expected to accelerate technology transfer, improve research quality and expand the national innovation network.
In this research, the team is developing embedded software engineering and intelligent firmware technology to support mechatronic systems in the agro-industrial sector. The technology is expected to improve efficiency, productivity and the application of intelligent systems in various agriculture-based industrial processes.
Dr Taufik said that success in obtaining the 2026 Impactful Diaspora Programme represents an important milestone for strengthening research capacity while opening up broader opportunities for international collaboration.
The Kemendiktisaintek 2026 Impactful Diaspora Programme is a tangible commitment to building a high-impact research ecosystem through the acceleration of embedded software technology and intelligent firmware for agro-industrial mechatronics.
“This synergy not only motivates the research capacity of lecturers and the involvement of students in globally benchmarked applied projects, but also strengthens inter-campus collaboration and serves as a bridge for technology transfer together with our diaspora partner, Xnergy Autonomous Power Technology Singapore,” said Dr Taufik in a press release received on Friday (31/7/2026).
According to him, the involvement of Indonesian diaspora members with experience in global industry provides strategic value in accelerating the exchange of knowledge and technology. The collaboration is expected to produce innovations that are not only academically valuable but can also be applied to answer the needs of industry.
