UBK Students Claim to Receive Rp 20 Million from Police, Rectorate to Investigate
JAKARTA – The rectorate of Universitas Bung Karno (UBK) will conduct an investigation following a student’s admission of receiving Rp 20 million before participating in a protest. The inquiry aims to identify those involved.
UBK Vice Rector IV Franky Roring stated that the investigation will proceed based on information largely provided by the Chairman of the Faculty of Law Student Executive Board (BEM FH), Muhammad Abdimaludin. The findings will be shared with the public.
“We will conduct a further investigation into who was involved. Going forward, there will be efforts to explain this matter to the public, the community, and the media,” Franky said during a press conference at the UBK Rectorate Building, Tuesday (23/6/2026).
Regarding Abdimaludin’s admission, Franky explained it was made as part of an open forum to demand accountability. He stressed that the actions of a few individuals should not be used to generalise the stance of all UBK students. “There are still many members of the campus community who care about Universitas Bung Karno’s commitment to moral principles and siding with the people,” he said.
Franky added that the university will impose sanctions on the students involved, tailored to UBK’s authority as an educational institution. However, he noted that the campus cannot investigate the source of the funds, as that falls outside its jurisdiction. “As for who provided the money, the amount received, and other parties involved, that is beyond our authority. We must acknowledge that there are limits to our powers that must be respected,” he said.
