UBK Student Body Chair Admits Accepting Bribe to Relocate 'Rearrange Indonesia' Protest

The bribe money, he stated, was given by an alumnus to BEM administrators, specifically from the Law and Economics Faculties, who were planning to stage a demonstration titled ‘Rearrange Indonesia’ on Monday, 15 June last week. ‘The confession of UBK Law Faculty BEM Chair, Abdi, admits to receiving Rp20 million from a senior, which was handed over through police officers,’ said Daniel at the UBK Campus in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, 23 June 2026. He continued that based on an examination conducted by the Rectorate on UBK Law Faculty BEM Chair Muhammad Abdimaludin, the individual concerned admitted to receiving the bribe money in the early hours before the demonstration. UBK’s BEM, he said, was asked by a Law Faculty alumnus not to hold the demonstration in the Presidential Palace area. In return, the alumnus would provide Rp20 million if UBK’s BEM agreed to move the protest location to the front of the DPR, MPR, and DPD Complex. ‘The suggestion was rejected by BEM, which continued to demonstrate towards the Palace. However, the money was still accepted by them,’ Daniel said. Previously, a video clip featuring the confession of UBK Law Faculty BEM Chair Muhammad Abdimaludin accepting a bribe during the ‘Rearrange Indonesia’ demonstration surfaced on social media. The money, he continued, was used for personal needs and distributed to UBK alumni, members of the UBK Law Faculty BEM board, and the UBK Economics Faculty BEM board. ‘Rp2.5 million to two alumni, Rp2 million to my deputy, Rp2 million to Mubarak, and Rp2 million to UBK Economics Faculty BEM,’ he said. During the ‘Rearrange Indonesia’ demonstration, UBK’s BEM accepted an invitation for closed-door mediation with Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. The mediation was held at the Vice Presidential Palace, attended by 15 UBK student representatives. The approximately 60-minute mediation discussed, among other things, the controversy surrounding the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) project and the Red and White Village Cooperatives. ‘The Vice President noted down the points of our demands, including the evaluation and improvement of all irregularities in the country today, such as the free nutritious meals and the Red and White Village Cooperatives,’ Abdi said after the mediation at the Vice Presidential Palace in Central Jakarta on Monday, 15 June 2026. Abdi also issued an ultimatum to Gibran if the students’ demands were not met. He stated that UBK’s BEM would stage a series of further demonstrations if their demands were not accommodated within 5x24 hours.
