UBK Student Admits Receiving Rp20 Million from Police to Avoid Palace Protest
A student from Universitas Bung Karno (UBK), Muhammad Abdimaludin, has admitted to receiving Rp20 million prior to last week’s protest at the Patung Kuda area. The confession was made by Abdi during a clarification session with fellow students on Monday (22/6/2026).
UBK Vice-Rector III, Daniel Panda, stated that he had summoned the student for questioning. According to him, the student has made an official admission to the university that he received the money from a police source.
“He has made an official admission to the university that he received Rp20 million through a senior alumnus of the UBK Faculty of Law, who was acting on behalf of a police officer,” he said during a press conference at the UBK Rectorate Building on Tuesday (23/6/2026).
Based on Abdi’s admission, Daniel explained that the money was handed over in the early hours of Monday (15/6/2026), before the protest took place later that day. The payment was intended to ensure that students from several student executive bodies (BEM) at UBK would not hold a demonstration at the State Palace.
“According to his admission, the money was handed over in the early hours of Monday, ahead of the student protest from several UBK BEMs, on the condition that they would not demonstrate at the Palace. They were advised by the alumnus to hold the demonstration at the House of Representatives (DPR) instead,” he said.
