Uber Technologies, Inc. and Pony AI Inc. plan to introduce driverless taxi services, or robotaxis, in five European cities.

According to an Arena EV report on Friday (14/8), the two companies plan to operate more than 2,000 autonomous vehicles in Europe, including in Zagreb, Croatia.

The four other cities targeted for robotaxi operations under the Uber-Pony AI partnership will be announced gradually once operational permits are obtained from local authorities.

Uber has not yet said when the robotaxi service will begin operating in Zagreb, only stating that the service will soon be available on the Uber app.

Under the partnership with Uber, Pony AI will provide Level 4 (L4) autonomous driving technology as well as other services to support the passenger experience.

Meanwhile, Uber will use its platform to handle bookings, payments, customer service, and fleet management in Europe.

Uber and Pony AI have been partners since May 2025.

In addition to partnering with Pony AI, Uber recently entered into a collaboration with autonomous vehicle technology company Wayve to develop robotaxi services in London, England.
