UAE warns of extremist groups' attempts to recruit youth
Abu Dhabi (ANTARA) - The United Arab Emirates has warned that extremist groups are attempting to recruit young people in the country through emotionally manipulative messages, and is urging families and society to remain vigilant.
In a statement posted on social media on Tuesday (24 February), the UAE State Security Department stated that such groups use rhetoric that distorts facts and misinterprets concepts in order to attract young people towards radical ideology.
The warning was accompanied by an awareness campaign video that illustrates how radicalisation can begin subtly, leading individuals to adopt extreme views, isolate themselves, and spread intolerance.
The department emphasised that national security is a shared responsibility and called on the public to report suspicious activities.
On the same day, Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the UAE President, called for vigilance in combating extremist ideology and protecting an open and tolerant society.
