UAE Rejects Allegations of Involvement in Aggression
Dubai (ANTARA) - The UAE’s Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Khalifa bin Shaheen Al Marar, stated that his government strongly denies Iran’s accusations of involvement in military aggression.
Al Marar made the statement while attending a meeting of foreign ministers of BRICS member states in New Delhi, India, on Friday (15/5).
“His Excellency affirmed the UAE’s complete rejection of Iran’s accusations,” Al Marar said in a statement from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The UAE also rejects any threats or attempts to influence the UAE’s policies as a sovereign state.
“The UAE has full sovereign, legal, diplomatic, and military rights to respond to any threats, accusations, or hostile actions,” said Al Marar.
On February 28, the US and Israel launched attacks on Iran, triggering retaliatory attacks by Iran on Israeli territory and US military facilities in the Middle East. Washington and Tehran then declared a ceasefire on April 7.
The escalation in the Middle East due to the tensions caused the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a key shipping route for oil supplies from the Persian Gulf to global markets.
