UAE: Barakah Nuclear Power Plant Safe After Drone Attack, No Radiation Threat

Moscow (ANTARA) - A fire occurred at the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the United Arab Emirates as a result of a drone attack, but the incident is believed to have caused no radiation threat.

“Authorities in Abu Dhabi are handling an incident involving a fire on an electrical generator outside the internal perimeter of the Barakah nuclear power plant in the Al Dhafra area caused by a drone attack,” said the Abu Dhabi Media Office (ADMO) in a statement on platform X, Sunday (May 17).

According to ADMO, there were no reports of injuries or impact on radiological safety levels in the incident.

The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) confirmed that the fire did not affect safety at the nuclear power plant and all generating units remain operational.
