UAE and Iranian Foreign Ministers Discuss Iran-US Negotiations and Regional Situation
Abu Dhabi (ANTARA) - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan discussed the latest regional situation with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, according to local media reports on Monday (23/2).
During the telephone conversation, the two discussed recent developments in the region and their implications for regional security and stability. They also exchanged greetings ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
WAM reported that Sheikh Abdullah emphasised the importance of negotiations between the United States and Iran, stating that positive progress in the talks would help strengthen regional security, promote prosperity and stability for the region’s peoples, and contribute to regional and international peace.
The development follows two rounds of indirect negotiations on the nuclear issue between the US and Iran this month, with the first round held in Muscat on 6 February and the second in Geneva on 17 February.
Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi said on Sunday (22/2) that the next round of US-Iran negotiations would be held on Thursday (26/2) in Geneva.
