UAE Ambassador Reminds Indonesia It Is Not Immune to the Impact of the US-Israel War Against Iran

JAKARTA - The Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Indonesia, Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri, has reminded that Indonesia is not immune to the impact of the war between the United States (US), Israel, and Iran.

“And I must say, Indonesia is not immune to this situation,” Abdulla stated during a press conference at the UAE Ambassador’s residence in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/4/2026).

Abdulla explained that what is happening in the Middle East region is not merely a regional issue.

Its impact will be felt worldwide.

Abdulla stated that countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have already observed price increases in many sectors.

From the energy sector, shipping and transportation costs, to heightened pressure on global supply chains.

He emphasised that many Asian countries, including Indonesia, will be affected by the war between the US-Israel and Iran.

“Like many Asian economies, Indonesia is also directly impacted by rising fuel prices, rising goods prices, and supply chain disruptions,” he said.

His side strongly opposes the current war because many international rules are being violated, including United Nations (UN) agreements.

“We will continue to work with our international partners, including Indonesia, to promote peace, stability, and shared prosperity,” he added.

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council announced agreement to a two-week ceasefire in the war against the United States (US).

As reported by Al Jazeera on Wednesday (8/4/2026), the council stressed that the ceasefire does not mean the war is over.

Previously reported, US President Donald Trump surprisingly announced a temporary ceasefire agreement with Iran for two weeks.

This decision was made after intensive discussions with Pakistan’s leadership, which acted as a mediator in the US-Israel conflict with Iran.

Previously, he had threatened to raze Iran if Tehran did not reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

He set a deadline of Tuesday (7/4/2026) at 20:00 Eastern Time (ET) on the US east coast, which is Wednesday (8/4/2026) at 03:30 Tehran time, or Wednesday at 07:00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
