UAD Investigates Sexual Harassment Report, Cancels Suspect's Community Service Programme

Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) in Yogyakarta is investigating a reported case of sexual harassment within its campus community. The alleged harassment was reportedly committed by a student against two female students during a community service programme (KKN). The information was shared via the Instagram account @bemfhuad, which stated that a student with the initials ACR committed acts of sexual harassment against two students with the initials FM and ASM. The account also claimed the perpetrator recounted his actions to many parties, and that the victims have pursued internal mechanisms by submitting a report to the UAD Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM). Responding to the matter, the Head of UAD’s Public Relations and Protocol Bureau, Ariadi Nugraha, expressed the university’s concern for the victims. He confirmed that the LPPM, the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Violence in Higher Education (Satgas PPKPT), and related units have followed up on the report according to applicable procedures. ‘Currently, LPPM has imposed an initial sanction by cancelling and not granting permission to participate in the KKN process for two periods. This decision has been approved by the parents or guardians of both parties,’ Ariadi said in a written statement on Saturday. Beyond the KKN-related sanction, Ariadi stated that UAD will also impose academic sanctions on the student concerned. The sanctions will be adjusted according to the level of violation based on the UAD Rector’s Regulation Number 14 of 2024 concerning UAD Student Discipline. Ariadi added that UAD respects the victims’ decision to pursue legal channels regarding the alleged sexual harassment. ‘UAD respects the victims’ decision to take legal action regarding this incident. UAD condemns all forms of sexual harassment and is seriously continuing prevention efforts through the Satgas PPKPT,’ he concluded.
