UAD Inaugurates 11 Deans for 2026–2030, Solidifying Campus Development Direction
Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) inaugurated 11 deans for the 2026–2030 period at its Kampus IV Amphitheatre in Yogyakarta on Tuesday. The ceremony marked a leadership transition across all faculties and served as preparation for the university’s upcoming institutional accreditation in 2027.
The newly appointed deans include Prof Suyadi (Faculty of Islamic Studies), Dr Sumaryanto (Faculty of Economics and Business), Prof Fatwa Tentama (Faculty of Psychology), and Prof Wajiran (Faculty of Literature, Culture, and Communication). Other appointees are Prof Fithriatus Shalihah (Faculty of Law), Muhammad Sayuti (Faculty of Teacher Training and Education), Prof Siti Jamilatun (Faculty of Industrial Technology), Dr apt Wahyuningsih (Faculty of Pharmacy), Muhammad Syamsu Hidayat (Faculty of Public Health), dr Moch. Junaidy Heriyanto (Faculty of Medicine), and Iwan Tri Riyadi Yanto (Faculty of Applied Science and Technology).
Rector Prof Muchlas stated that the inauguration was not merely a structural change but a relay of academic leadership that would determine the direction of the faculties and the university in the coming years. He noted that the selection process adhered to Muhammadiyah regulations, prioritising professionalism, objectivity, and Islamic values. He also expressed gratitude to the previous deans for their dedication, highlighting that UAD’s achievements, including its ‘Unggul’ accreditation, were the result of collective effort.
The rector stressed that the new leadership would play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the institution’s standing, particularly with the 2027 accreditation on the horizon. He urged the new deans to embed a culture of quality into daily academic life, viewing accreditation as a natural outcome of excellent and sustainable governance.
Addressing the challenges of artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and the knowledge economy, Muchlas said universities must produce graduates who are not only knowledgeable but also creative, adaptive, and capable of providing solutions to societal problems. He outlined UAD’s strategic direction as a ‘Community Services University’, integrating education, research, and community service to benefit society, the Muhammadiyah organisation, the nation, and humanity.
This vision is encapsulated in the UAD Strategic Plan 2025–2045, structured around five development milestones. The newly inaugurated deans are responsible for achieving the first milestone, which focuses on transforming and integrating community service with education and research, guided by Islamic values. The rector called on the deans to concentrate on five strategic agendas: integrating impactful higher education duties, building an excellent and adaptive academic culture, strengthening research and human resource development, enhancing international reputation and networks, and implementing professional and sustainable faculty governance.
He emphasised that technological progress must be accompanied by moral integrity and urged the deans to be inspirational leaders who are close to lecturers, staff, students, and alumni. UAD’s Chairman of the Daily Advisory Board, Prof Irwan Akib, also congratulated the new deans and stressed that leadership requires intelligence, honesty, courage in decision-making, and firmness, built through communication based on mutual respect.
