Tyre Warehouse in Pondok Aren, South Tangerang, Catches Fire as Black Smoke Billows into Sky

A tyre warehouse on Jalan Jombang Raya, Pondok Aren, South Tangerang, caught fire this morning. The fire has reportedly been extinguished and is currently in the cooling phase.

“The initial fire report was received at around 09.00 or 10.00 Western Indonesian Time. The location is behind the Bintaro Icon Apartments,” said Ismail, a call centre operator for the South Tangerang Fire Service, when contacted for confirmation on Wednesday (18/2/2026).

Ismail said fire service personnel remain at the scene. A total of 60 firefighters and 16 fire engines were deployed to the location.

“The fire suppression operation has now been completed, and we are currently in the cooling process,” Ismail said.

It is not yet known whether there were any casualties in the incident. Ismail said he had not yet received further reports regarding the matter.

“We cannot confirm at this stage, as the personnel deployed to the scene have not yet returned,” he said.

The fire was shared across several social media accounts. Videos show thick black smoke billowing high into the sky as the blaze raged. Flames were clearly visible, and local residents could be seen watching firefighters battle the fire.
