Traffic on Jalan Kolonel Masturi, Lembang, West Bandung Regency, was disrupted due to a fire at a tyre repair shop and retail petrol kiosk on the side of the road, Thursday (26/2) afternoon.

The incident caused one person, who was a family member of the shop owner, to suffer burns and require medical treatment.

The Head of the Fire and Rescue Department of West Bandung Regency, Siti Aminah Anshoriah, said that the fire report in Kampung Pasarkemis RT01 RW10, Sukajaya Village, Lembang District, was received by officers at 15:57 WIB.

“Two units of fire trucks with a capacity of 1,000 liters each from the Parongpong and Lembang posts were deployed to the location,” she said.

She explained that the building that caught fire belonged to a resident named Suyadi and was used as a tyre repair shop and retail petrol kiosk by Ahmad Zaid. At the time of the incident, there were five people at the location.

“Officers immediately took action to prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings, considering that there were houses on both sides,” she said.

She said that the extinguishing process was completed at 17:38 WIB after cooling and re-examination to ensure that there were no remaining hotspots.

“After the fire was successfully extinguished, we continued with the cooling process and a thorough inspection to ensure that the situation was completely under control,” she said.

One of the injured victims was identified as Ilham, who is the younger brother of the shop owner, Ahmad Zaid. He suffered injuries and received immediate assistance.

“There were no fatalities, and the material losses are still being recorded by officers,” she explained.

In the fire incident, traffic from both directions was disrupted due to the large flames and the large number of people who were gathering in the area and witnessing the fire. (H-3)
