Type 01 becomes the first model in Jaguar's segment transformation
British automotive manufacturer Jaguar is embarking on a new chapter in the automotive industry with the Type 01, a four-door electric vehicle designed to mark the brand’s repositioning towards the luxury vehicle segment.
CarsCoops reported on Wednesday (7/10) local time that the Type 01, introduced in New York, USA, serves as the first model in Jaguar’s new era following the cessation of internal combustion engine production.
The Type 01 was developed using the Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA) and features a design significantly different from typical Jaguar models.
According to technical specifications, the Type 01 utilises an 118 kWh NMC battery with an 850-volt electrical architecture. This system supports DC fast charging up to 350 kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10 to 80 per cent in just 22 minutes.
In terms of performance, this zero-emission vehicle is powered by three electric motors producing a combined output of 1,015 hp and 1,365 Nm of torque. Jaguar claims the vehicle is capable of travelling up to 400 miles, or approximately 644 kilometres, based on EPA standards.
Regarding design, Jaguar has retained several extreme elements from the Type 00 Concept. The car features a long bonnet, a low roofline, large wheels, and lacks a rear window. Instead, a camera system is used to provide a rear view via an available screen.
The interior of the Type 01 also adopts a minimalist approach. The primary instrument cluster is displayed on a 24-inch digital screen, while a seven-inch vertical touchscreen in the centre is used to control functions such as air conditioning and audio. A 38-speaker audio system is also included.
Jaguar plans to open orders for the Type 01 in early 2027. In the UK, the price is set to start from £130,000 (approximately IDR 3.05 billion), while the initial price in the United States is expected to be around $130,000 (approximately IDR 2.32 billion). Deliveries to customers are targeted for the second half of 2027.
