Two Youths in Bekasi Arrested by Police While Preparing for a Brawl, Weapons Seized

Officers apprehended two youths who were found carrying various types of sharp weapons and dangerous blunt instruments,” said the Head of the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Henik Maryanto, on Thursday (June 4, 2026).

The two were arrested while police were conducting a patrol in the early hours of the morning, around 02:30 WIB. The patrols are conducted regularly to anticipate security disturbances.

“While passing through the area, officers found a group of youths with suspicious movements who were strongly suspected of preparing to carry out a brawl,” he said.

The youths initially tried to disperse when they saw the police. However, both youths were apprehended before the brawl could take place.

“From the hands of the two apprehended youths, officers seized a number of crucial pieces of evidence that were prepared for the act of violence, including one golf club, one machete, one sickle, one corbek (modified sharp weapon), and one mobile phone which is suspected of being used to coordinate with the opposing group,” he explained.

According to him, this action is a commitment to maintaining security in the area in a preventative and responsive manner. Both were then taken to the police station for further investigation.

“We are taking swift action to anticipate potential conflicts in public spaces, especially during vulnerable hours in the early morning. This effort is being made to ensure that there is no room for street criminals or brawls that can disturb the public,” he added.
