JAKARTA (JP): Two national clean and jerk record were
shattered by their holders yesterday at the national weight
lifting, power lifting and bodybuilding championships at Hall B

Chiang Mai, Thailand, bested her old mark of 105.5 kilograms to

brought her total lifting to 188.5kg.
Winarni totaled 165kg for the silver, followed by Tanti with
157.5kg.
Sri Indriyani was the other record breaker yesterday when she
improved her own mark of 91kg by 1.5kg in the women's 46kg

Both Supeni and Sri set their old records last October during
a national selection for the 18th SEA Games in Gajah Sena, Bogor.
The other event contested yesterday, the women's 50kg, saw no
record breaker.
The championships, which will run until Jan. 16, serve as a
qualifying-round for the 14th National Games scheduled for Sept.
9 to Sept. 20.
Djoko Pramono, secretary-general of the Indonesian Weight
lifting, Power lifting and Body building Association, told
reporters that the national meet will also be used as a testing
ground for eight male weightlifters who are preparing for the
Olympic Games in Atlanta in July.
Djoko said that after the meet, the eight weighlifters would
undergo their final test at the Asian Weightlifting Championships
in Yachio, Japan, in April, which will be the last qualifying
round for the Summer Games.
The eight weightlifters in question are Hari Setiawan (54kg),
Rusli (54kg), Supendi (54kg), Taufik (59kg), Sodikin (64kg),
Yudhi Suhartono (64kg), Erwin (70kg), Lukman (76kg). Hari,
Taufik, Sodikin and Lukman are Chiang Mai SEA Games gold

Indonesia has won four Olympic berths for Supendi (54kg),
Rusli (54kg), Zulkarnaen (59kg) and Catur Mei Study (70kg) who
ranked 18th, 23rd, 23rd and 22nd at the World Weightlifting
Championships in Guangzhou, China, in November last year.
A country is entitled to an Olympic berth for each of its
athletes who finished in the first 25th at the world meet. (arf)
