Two weeks before Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah, railway ticket bookings for the Lebaran transport period from 11 March to 1 April 2026 continue to rise. Franoto Wibowo, spokesperson for PT Kereta Api Indonesia’s Daerah Operasi (Daop) 1 Jakarta, said hundreds of thousands of departure tickets from Gambir Station and Pasar Senen Station in Jakarta have been booked by prospective travellers. ‘The total seating capacity during this period reaches 1,076,196 seats for long-distance journeys from Gambir and Pasar Senen stations,’ he said in a statement received by Kompas.com on Saturday, 7 March 2026. Of this, 617,752 tickets have been sold or reserved. Accordingly, about 476,191 seats remain available for booking by prospective passengers. ‘Overall, the occupancy or seat fill rate at the moment is around 57 per cent,’ he added. He said the sales period peak occurs during the homecoming or pre-Eid period, namely 11–20 March 2026. During that period, 419,409 tickets were sold. The date with the highest bookings was 18 March with 49,037 tickets. Then 19 March with 48,260; 17 March with 47,934; and 16 March with 47,152 tickets. Franoto noted that some dates during this period are already near full. ‘On 18 March there are about 2,450 seats left, then 20 March has 2,843 seats left, and 19 March 3,002 seats left. In other words, those dates are approaching fully booked,’ he said. For executive class, total capacity reaches 510,527 seats with about 290,502 seats remaining. Meanwhile, the economy commercial class has total capacity of 446,965 seats with 147,241 seats remaining. The PSO economy class, a subsidised service, has total capacity of 118,704 seats with about 38,448 seats left. Looking at the period of departure, the number of seats available becomes increasingly limited ahead of Eid.
