Two Ways Israeli Citizens Can Enter Indonesia, According to Immigration

The Director of Visas and Travel Documents at the Directorate General of Immigration, Eko Budianto, has revealed the mechanism for Israeli citizens entering Indonesia. According to him, there are two ways an Israeli citizen can be in Indonesia: through a calling visa, which involves a cross-ministerial and institutional verification process, or by using a passport from another country whose citizenship allows entry into Indonesia.

Eko stated that Israel is included on the list of countries subject to the calling visa mechanism. This means the issuance of a visa for citizens of that country is not decided by Immigration alone, but rather through a verification and approval process involving several relevant ministries and agencies.

“So the verification is not solely from Immigration, and the approval is not from Immigration,” Eko said on Wednesday (12/8/2026).

The process, he continued, involves a number of agencies, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), the Police, the Attorney General’s Office, the Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS), and the Ministry of Home Affairs.

With this mechanism, Israeli citizens entering Indonesia directly using Israeli citizenship must undergo a special verification process. Eko noted that the number of Israeli citizens entering through this mechanism is relatively small.
