Two Victims Killed in Jagorawi Jeep Accident Suffered Severe Burns
Police have disclosed the condition of the driver and passenger of a Mercedes-Benz Jeep who died after crashing into a trailer truck at KM 01.400 A on the Jagorawi Toll Road heading towards Bogor in the early hours of the morning. Both victims were caught in the fire and suffered severe burns.
“The driver and passenger died at the scene with severe burns. Their identities are unknown because they were burnt. The driver and passenger died as a result of the fire,” said AKP Darwis Yunarta, Head of the Traffic Accident Unit at the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police, when contacted on Friday (21/8/2026).
The victims’ bodies have been evacuated to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital in East Jakarta. The vehicles involved in the accident have also been secured.
“The vehicles involved in the accident have been secured at the Jagorawi Toll Road towing depot,” he said.
Police revealed that the Mercedes-Benz Jeep was travelling at high speed when it struck the rear of the truck. The accident occurred at 02.15 WIB in the early hours of the morning.
“The trailer and the Mercedes were both travelling from the north in lane two. Upon reaching the scene, the Mercedes, travelling at high speed, struck the right rear section of the trailer,” said ABKP Reiki Indra Brata Manggala, Head of the Traffic Patrol Unit at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, when contacted by journalists on Friday (21/8).
The accident was unavoidable. The Mercedes Jeep was completely burnt out following the severe impact.
“The collision between the two vehicles resulted in the Mercedes, along with its driver and passenger, catching fire,” he said.
The identities of the two victims remain unknown, as the entire vehicle was completely burnt out. The handling of the accident case has been transferred to the East Jakarta Traffic Accident Unit.
