Two veeps
Two veeps
From Suara Karya
Presidential candidates have been a daily subject in the media of late. It is interesting to note that as for the vice presidency, some political circles want to see two veeps instead of one in the next government.
The idea seems acceptable, but what is the law which supports this? As far as I know the president is assisted by one vice president, as mentioned in Article 4, Paragraph 2 of the 1945 Constitution.
I am afraid this is only a maneuver by politicians to share power among themselves in a competition that involves many political parties. If this tendency continues to afflict politicians, it is highly probable that our political culture will never be mature, because it does not touch on politics and matters pertaining to the formation of government in a substantial way. It sees politics only as a game.
The politicians should be able to think wisely and profoundly, because the past has shown that even one vice president did not have adequate functional experience. So, what would happen with additional veeps. The politicians should reconsider their idea.
