Two US Soldiers Killed in Iranian Missile and Drone Attack in Jordan

US Central Command (Centcom) has confirmed the deaths of two American soldiers in a massive aerial attack launched by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). One other soldier is reported missing and several were wounded following a barrage of ballistic missiles and drones targeting military bases in Jordan and Kuwait. Centcom stated that four military personnel who were rushed to hospital have since been discharged, whilst soldiers with minor injuries have already returned to duty. As a mark of respect for the families, Centcom will withhold additional information, including the identities of the fallen soldiers, until 24 hours after next of kin have been notified. The Pentagon is still keeping the identities and specific location details of the fatal incident confidential.

The IRGC previously announced the launch of the 20th wave of Operation Nasr-2 (Victory 2) in a press statement, claiming the large-scale aerial operation was a direct act of retaliation for a US military strike against Iranian assets. The IRGC’s Aerospace Wing claimed its precision strikes successfully hit fighter jet hangars and runways at Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan, resulting in the total destruction of two fighter jets and three US military aircraft, alongside severe damage to the base’s infrastructure. The IRGC accused Washington of committing direct aggression against the Iranian Armed Forces to cover up their strategic failures in the region. Tehran also held the US military responsible for the deaths of civilians in previous US strikes that destroyed public facilities such as hospitals, bridges, railway lines, ports, and airports.

The Indonesian government has called on Iran and the United Arab Emirates to exercise restraint and prioritise a peaceful resolution in accordance with international law.
