Two Unemployed Men Arrested for Stealing PLN Substation Cables Worth Rp 60 Million in Dompu
Two unemployed men, identified as W (28) and MR (21), have been arrested by police for stealing electrical cables from a PLN substation in Dompu, West Nusa Tenggara, resulting in losses of around Rp 60 million. They were apprehended on Friday (19/6/2026) at two different locations. A suspected fence, identified as S, was also taken into custody along with evidence of the crime, according to Dompu Police Public Relations Head, Iptu I Nyoman Suardika, on Saturday (20/6/2026). Suardika explained that the theft occurred at a substation in Sori Tatanga Village, Pekat District. The two perpetrators broke into the substation using simple tools, opened the bolts with a spanner, and cut the copper cables inside. The stolen cables were then taken away and sold to a collector in the Manggelewa area. Police managed to recover the stolen cables from the collector as evidence. They also seized several tools, including cable cutters and spanners, believed to have been used by the suspects during the crime. The three suspects are now being held at Dompu Police Headquarters and are undergoing further investigation for their unlawful actions.
