Two Tramadol Dealers Arrested in Tanah Abang Market, Thousands of Pills Seized
Joint officers have detained two illegal dealers of the hard drugs tramadol and hexymer in the Tanah Abang Market area of Central Jakarta. Thousands of pills were seized from the two dealers.
According to Antara, the joint operation was carried out by the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), the Central Jakarta Social Affairs Sub-department, the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BBPOM), the National Police and the Indonesian Military in the Tanah Abang area.
“The two perpetrators dealing in illegal tramadol and hexymer who were arrested in Tanah Abang today were not taken to a social care facility owned by the Jakarta Provincial Government, but were instead handed over to the police to be processed in accordance with the applicable law,” said Central Jakarta Mayor Arifin on Thursday (13/8/2026).
Arifin explained that plain-clothes joint personnel conducting the operation in the Tanah Abang Market area managed to detain two of the drug sellers as they attempted to flee. The two dealers were then taken in an operational vehicle belonging to the Central Jakarta Social Affairs Sub-department to the Central Jakarta Mayor’s Office.
While searching a sling bag belonging to one of the dealers, identified as Rizky (29), officers found more than 4,000 tramadol and hexymer pills as well as Rp 4.2 million in sales proceeds.
Arifin stressed that legal proceedings against the two dealers were being pursued to provide a deterrent effect and prevent them from repeating their actions.
“The dealers are subject to legal sanctions because most of the drugs sold do not meet official distribution standards, and the drug attributes or brands are unclear without stating the drug name,” said Arifin.
He said the operation was part of a shared commitment between residents and community organisations in Tanah Abang that have declared the eradication of the sale of illegal drugs without distribution permits.
“The operation against illegal tramadol and hexymer dealers in Tanah Abang also involved West Jakarta Satpol PP personnel, so that if they fled to another area they could be immediately detained together. And vice versa,” Arifin added.
