Two Tracking Devices Found on Ex-UGM Student Leader's Car Amid Government Criticism

Former Gadjah Mada University Student Executive Board (BEM UGM) chairman for the 2025 period, Tiyo Ardianto, claims to have found two tracking devices attached to the underside of his car on Sunday, 14 June 2026. The discovery was shared via a video uploaded to his Instagram account, in which he displayed a small black box-shaped object found affixed beneath the vehicle. The finding immediately attracted public attention, with many questioning the origin of the devices and the reason for their placement on the vehicle belonging to the former student activist. Tiyo stated he was unaware of the trackers until his mobile phone displayed a notification indicating that a tracking device was moving along with him. In the video, he showed a notification regarding a device named PBX Finder. The notification read: ‘PBX FINDER found moving with you. The owner can request its location. Tap to open Find My to see available actions.’ After receiving the notification, Tiyo and a colleague conducted an inspection and eventually discovered a small device attached to the vehicle’s undercarriage. He admitted he does not yet know the identity of the party suspected of planting the device. ‘Folks, as you can see, this is a tracking device called PBX Finder. I know about this because it appeared in my phone notification. We then searched for it and found this tracker under the vehicle. It was planted by who knows whom, but for sure this is a very disgusting incident,’ Tiyo said in the video. He then connected the discovery to the criticisms he has frequently voiced. Tiyo also alluded to his involvement in a number of demonstrations, including the Gejayan Memanggil protests in Yogyakarta.
