Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo has revealed that two toll roads on the island of Java are being prepared for trials involving the landing of fighter jets in emergency conditions. The roads identified are the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) 2 South Toll Road and the Probolinggo-Situbondo-Banyuwangi (Prosiwangi) Toll Road. This follows a previous successful trial on the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) Terbanggi Besar-Pematang Panggang-Kayu Agung (Terpeka) section. Dody noted that the Minister of Defence had requested further trials on another Trans-Sumatra section, likely the Sigli-Banda Aceh Toll Road. He explained that not all toll roads can be used for such trials, citing the presence of overpasses as a limiting factor. Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono stated that infrastructure must be multifunctional, and that careful planning is key to creating assets like the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road that can also support national defence.
