Two TNI soldiers were reported killed while carrying out an escort mission for a vehicle in southern Lebanon. Both perished after the vehicle exploded.

The Head of the TNI Headquarters Information Centre (Kapuspen), Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, revealed that the two fallen TNI soldiers were Captain (Inf) Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and Staff Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ichwan. The incident began when TNI personnel from Escort Team Company B of the Task Force Yonmek XXIII-S/UNIFIL, part of the East Mobile Reserve (SEMR), were escorting a UNIFIL vehicle convoy in southern Lebanon on Monday (30/3).

The TNI personnel were escorting the vehicle from the East Sector UNIFIL Headquarters United Nations Post (UNP) 7-2 to the Task Force Yonmek TNI Konga XXIII-S/UNIFIL Headquarters at UNP 7-1.

“The incident occurred amid high escalation of conflict, where an explosion on the vehicle resulted in the deaths of two TNI soldiers,” said Aulia, as reported by Antara on Tuesday (31/3/2026).

Additionally, two other TNI soldiers were injured in the attack. They are Second Lieutenant (Inf) Sulthan Wirdean Maulana and Private Deni Rianto.

Aulia has not yet provided detailed explanations on the cause of the explosion in the vehicle driven by the TNI soldiers. He assured that TNI will await the results of the UNIFIL investigation to uncover the cause of the explosion.

“To determine the cause of the incident, UNIFIL is currently conducting an investigation. TNI is also continuously monitoring developments in the situation and preparing contingency steps in the face of dynamics in the Lebanon mission area,” Aulia concluded.

In total, there have been three TNI soldiers who have fallen while carrying out humanitarian mission duties in Lebanon.
