Two thugs in Rawasari, Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta, have been arrested by police after assaulting a satay vendor, 26-year-old Hikmatul Lisan, leaving him injured. The perpetrators attacked the victim after being asked to pay for their food. Cempaka Putih Police Chief, Kompol Pengky Sukmawan, stated the pair refused to pay for their meal and drinks. According to Pengky, the duo frequently ate at the victim’s stall without paying. Police are still investigating both suspects, including conducting urine tests. The assault took place on Saturday at 8:40 p.m. local time and went viral on social media. Footage shows the two perpetrators approaching the cart where the victim was selling, before pulling him until he fell to the ground. Both suspects are seen punching and kicking the victim, who could only curl up during the assault, while several people tried to intervene. Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Reynold EP, explained that after receiving the report, officers immediately processed the crime scene and analysed CCTV footage from around the location. The investigation successfully identified the suspects, and both were apprehended without resistance. Reynold stressed that the police will not tolerate any form of violence and will take firm action against all forms of thuggery and criminal acts that disturb the community, as such swift action represents the police’s commitment to providing protection and legal certainty for victims.
